Plagiarism Screening

Plagiarism Screening Policy

The Horizon Journal (THJ) is committed to maintaining academic integrity and originality in all published content. To ensure this, every manuscript undergoes plagiarism screening before entering the peer review or production stage.

Screening Procedure

  • All manuscripts that pass the initial editorial desk evaluation are checked for similarity using Turnitin plagiarism detection software.
  • The similarity report is reviewed by the editorial team to assess potential overlap, improper citation, or unethical reuse.
  • Manuscripts must meet the journal’s maximum similarity threshold of 20% to proceed to peer review or production.
  • Authors may be asked to revise and resubmit if excessive similarity is detected.

Editorial Action

  • Minor similarity (≤20%) with proper citation is acceptable.
  • Significant overlap, self-plagiarism, or uncited reuse may result in rejection or request for revision.
  • Confirmed plagiarism will lead to manuscript rejection and may be reported to the author’s institution.

Author Responsibility

  • Authors are expected to submit original work and properly cite all sources.
  • Use of AI tools must be disclosed and must not generate unattributed content.
  • Authors are encouraged to check similarity before submission using trusted tools.

This policy is aligned with COPE guidelines and is reviewed periodically to ensure compliance with international publishing standards.
