Editorial Workflow

Editorial Workflow Diagram

The Horizon Journal (THJ) follows a structured editorial workflow to ensure transparency, efficiency, and academic rigor in the publication process.

1. Submission

Author submits manuscript via the OJS submission system. The manuscript must comply with THJ’s Author Guidelines and formatting requirements.

2. Initial Editorial Screening

The Editor-in-Chief or Section Editor conducts a desk evaluation to assess scope, originality, and basic compliance. Manuscripts that fail this stage are desk-rejected.

3. Plagiarism Screening

Manuscripts passing the desk review are screened using Turnitin. Similarity must be ≤20% to proceed.

4. Peer Review Assignment

Qualified reviewers are invited based on expertise and availability. THJ uses a double-blind peer review model.

5. Peer Review Process

Reviewers evaluate the manuscript using THJ’s Reviewer Guidelines and Assessment Form. They provide scores, comments, and a recommendation.

6. Editorial Decision

The Editor reviews all feedback and makes a decision: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject. Authors are notified via OJS.

7. Revision and Resubmission

Authors revise the manuscript based on reviewer/editor comments and resubmit within the given timeframe. Revised manuscripts may be re-reviewed.

8. Final Acceptance

Once the manuscript meets all editorial and reviewer requirements, it is formally accepted for publication.

9. Production and Proofing

The manuscript enters production: formatting, metadata assignment, DOI registration, and author proofing.

10. Online Publication

The final version is published on the THJ website under a Creative Commons license and indexed accordingly.

This workflow is reviewed periodically to ensure alignment with international publishing standards and best practices.
